L’Évariste · Mathematics contest

A mathematics contest for high school students.

L’Évariste is a contest of mathematical excellence organised by Albert School. It is named after Évariste Galois, one of the greatest mathematicians of the 19th century, known for his remarkable intuition.

How it works

One day, two papers, pen and paper only.

  1. 01

    Teams of four

Students take part in teams of four, with at least one girl in every team.

  2. 02

    A solo paper

In the morning, each student works alone on an individual written paper.

  3. 03

    A team paper

In the afternoon, the team solves a longer written paper together.

  4. 04

    Open to all

Any high school student can enter, whatever their nationality. No calculators or devices allowed.

I dream of a day when selfishness no longer rules the sciences, when people join together to study, and publish their smallest observations as long as they are new, adding: “I don’t know the rest.”
